The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

April 3

Fortville Broadway Diner

426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Violations found: NC, R2 – ceiling has debris hanging down throughout the kitchen, walls have food debris, floors have debris, to be corrected by April 10; NC, R – shelf above steam table breading station has debris, to be corrected by April 10; C, R – unit with drawers holding utensils have debris, corrected; C – spray bottle with chemical not marked with common name, corrected; NC – washed utensils need to be rinsed after washing and before sanitizing, corrected; NC, R – ceiling in kitchen has board that has detached from ceiling, to be corrected by April 10; NC – establishment needs to provide service sink with hot and cold water, to be corrected by June 10; C – drain line of three-compartment sink is directly connected to drain line, an air gap needs to be provided, to be corrected by June 10.

Violations found: NC, R – debris build-up on floors under refrigeration units in kitchen, small amount of debris on door of walk-in cooler, to be corrected by April 13; C – no date on bologna that is open in walk-in cooler, corrected.

Violations found: NC – plumbing leak at three-compartment sink, faucet and soap/sanitizer are leaking, to be corrected by May 12; NC – out of paper towels at hand sink between prep line and cooler, corrected; NC – debris, grime, mold growth around mop sink, to be corrected by April 26.

Violations found: NC – boxes of food stored on floor in freezer, to be corrected by April 20; NC – ice build-up on freezer lines, back door of freezer heavily damages, allowing ice to form all around door, to be corrected by May 13.
