Restaurant inspections for March 1-4

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

March 1

Dairy Queen

Location: 801 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – food contact surfaces of utensils and the drawer they’re stored in in area of three-compartment sink have debris, corrected.

Casey’s General Store

Location: 1133 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – spray bottle with chemical is not labeled, chicken at pizza table is at 55 degrees (needs to be 41 degrees or below), expired bologna, chicken salad and ham in sub sandwich-making reach-in cooler, corrected.

March 2

Subway

Location: 323 S. Oak St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – gap at front door, need to repair cracked tiles in kitchen, coving where it is coming away from the wall, holes in wall at mop sink and hole in concrete in utility closet, the three-compartment sink drain stoppers are not working properly, wood is exposed at mop sink, to be corrected by April 1; NC – clean knives were being stored in container that was not clean and with pens, screwdriver, etc. that have not been sanitized, corrected.

Huck’s Convenience Food & Fuel

Location: 322 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – floor near walk-in cooler under drink boxes and freezer in back by three-compartment sink has debris, to be corrected by March 1.

Pizza King

Location: 215 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – incorrect date on sliced ham used on salad and ranch dressing made in the establishment, corrected; NC – dough box prep area has paint chipping off and debris, debris on door of walk-in cooler, need to provide service sink to dispose of mop water, to be corrected by April 1; C – need to provide air gap at three-compartment sink drain line, to be corrected by April 1.

March 3

Bob Evans Farms

Location: 2256 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

March 4

Tour of Italy

Location: 5 American Legion Place., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – dish machine is not dispensing sanitizer, Windex/vinegar spray stored on food prep table, corrected; NC – dish machine wash temperature is 110 degrees (needs to reach 120 degrees), repair/replace back splash area at three-compartment sink, to be corrected by April 1.
