The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Violations found: C — employee observed not washing hands before putting on gloves, corrected; NC — the seal around the mop sink is broken, two holes in the wall by the mop sink, debris on the floors in corners and on legs of equipment, to be corrected by April 1.

Violations found: NC — mop sink seal is broken, to be corrected by April 1.

Feb. 22

Long John Silver’s

Location: 2080 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — employee observed touching raw shrimp then touching food timer button and handle of reach-in cooler, corrected; NC/R — debris build-up on floor of walk-in freezer, in corners, where tiles are missing or cracked in kitchen and on walk-in cooler door, finish on walls and door inside walk-in cooler is coming off, to be corrected by April 1.

KFC Corporation

Location: 1604 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — chicken being hot held below 135 degrees, corrected; NC — small amount of debris in corners and on wall of raw chicken cooler, door on hot holding cabinet not working properly, hinge broken on walk-in chicken cooler, mechanism is leaking and frosting up, to be corrected by March 1.

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violation found: C/R — nacho cheese, cooked potatoes on grill are below 135 degrees, debris on food contact parts of utensils/equipment stored in metal cabinet in kitchen, corrected; C — employee observed not washing hands before putting on food handling gloves, employee observed using broom with food handling gloves on and not changing gloves before handling food, corrected; NC — consumer advisory on menu needs to include asterisks to refer to specific foods covered by the advisory, build-up of debris/grime under refrigeration unit near salad and prep area, to be corrected by May 1.
