GREENFIELD — A customer at a Greenfield nail salon was injured after a car crashed through the business’ entrance Wednesday afternoon.

The call for the crash came in at 12:09 p.m. at V.I.P. Nails, 184 E. New Road. Greenfield Police Sgt. John Cutler said a blue Ford Focus was inside the business upon his arrival.

A female customer was under the front bumper of the vehicle reporting leg and rib pain, Cutler continued. He added the victim was transported to Hancock Regional Hospital with fairly minor injuries.

Cutler said the driver was a young male who has had his driver’s license for a short time. The driver reported to police that he was going to park in the parking space in front of the nail salon when he hit a patch of ice and slid into the building, Cutler said.

“At this point in time it appears to be strictly an accident,” Cutler said. “He is cooperating with law enforcement.”

Cutler said the vehicle was towed from the scene. He said the damage to the business is extensive but that the aftermath could have been far worse.

Toan Tran, owner of V.I.P. Nails, said he was working on a customer at the time of the crash.

“It went straight all the way back there,” Tran said.

Tran added about 10 customers were inside at the time.
