The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Aug. 7

Florida Cracker BBQ

Location: 812 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Qdoba Mexican Grill

Location: 2037 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — Sani bucket on line by grill and in back of food prep area did not have enough sanitizer, corrected; NC/R — hot water at hand sink near three-compartment sink did not reach 100 degrees, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Aug. 8

McDonald’s

Location: 5122 W. U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R2 — ice scoop must be stored in a clean, protected manner, do not use drinking cup, spoons for specialty drinks must be stored in a clean contain, clean to sight and touch. corrected; NC — wiping cloths must be stored in sanitizing solution, corrected; NC — clean ice cream machine tray and syrup dispenser, gnats are present, to be corrected by Sept. 1.

Location: 18 W. Main St., New Palestine

Pizza Hut

Location: 1010 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — cart in dough making area and shelf holding table busing containers have debris, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R2 — clean wall behind dish machine to remove mold-like substance, to be corrected by Nov. 1; C — must change gloves after touching walk-in cooler door before preparing food, corrected.

Wendy’s

Location: 1508 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — cheese on line did not have time marked, corrected.

Village Pantry

Location: 909 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R4 — no dates on sandwiches in customer reach-in cooler, improper date marking on deli meat when opened (if multiple meats, need to use date of oldest ingredient), corrected; NC/R4 — floors in kitchen have grime/debris in corners and under fryer and equipment, equipment and legs of table have grime build-up, to be corrected by Sept. 9.

Aldi

Location: 1780 Muskegon Lane, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R3 — ice build-up at left bottom of walk-in freezer, gap at bottom of loading dock, repair to prevent pest access, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Pilot Travel Center

Location: 2640 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — clean ice chute used to bag ice, also ice scoop handle is broken, corrected.

Pizza Hut

Location: 2640 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Violations found: NC — repair walk-in freezer, provide test strips for sanitizer, to be corrected by Oct. 1.
