GREENFIELD

Earl E. Ose, age 93 of Greenfield passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at Hamilton Trace, Fishers. He was born June 18, 1925 in Pana, Illinois to the late Tom and Marie (Atkison) Ose. He was a graduate of Decatur High School and continued his education at Millikin University in Decatur. He received his master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois and continued his work on a second master’s degree.

Earl served in the U.S. Navy, the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He trained at the Chicago Navy Radio School and completed his basic training at the Farragut Naval Base. Earl married Darlene (Sheets) Ose on December 21, 1947. Earl was on staff of the Veterinary Medicine Department at the University of Illinois and the Illinois State Health Department. He went on to serve as an adjunct professor at Indiana Central University for several years. After relocating to Greenfield in 1957. Earl began his 34-year career as a Senior Scientist of Veterinary Medicine with Eli Lilly and Company. Prior to retiring in 1991, he was a contributor to 14 different veterinary patents and published/co-published several scientific articles.

Earl was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist church. He enjoyed music, photography and was an avid tennis player. He was the City of Decatur junior tennis champion at the age of 14.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Sheets-Ose; sons, Paul (Sarah) Ose and Ross (Sissy) Ose; grandchildren, Ruth Ose-Meyer, Blythe Ose-Winslow, Clay Ose, Rebecca Ose-Yeh, Dr. Benjamin Ose and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Dr. Dennis Ose; grandson, Joshua Ose and sister, Betty Ose.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Funeral service 11 a.m., Friday, March 22 at the funeral home with Pastor Robert McMillan officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard immediately following at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
