Clip-Clop Clovers kick off 4-H season with meetings

GREENFIELD — The year’s first meeting of the Clip-Clop Clovers 4-H Club took place Feb. 10 at St. James Lutheran Church.

Megan Bell called the meeting to order, Lizzie Chaffee led the Pledge of Allegiance and Hunter Chaffee led the 4-H pledge. Minutes were read by Katelynn Howell, and roll call was taken by Lizzie Chaffee. The treasurer’s report was given by Hunter Chaffee.

Record keeping and upcoming events were discussed. Megan Bell gave a demonstration with her therapy and 4-H dog, Izzy. Members participated in singing, recreation, snacks and a craft project.

The group met again March 10. Liz Roth called the meeting to order, Alexis Eads led the Pledge of Allegiance and Elijah Barkes led the 4-H pledge. The minutes were read by Megan Bell, and roll call was taken by Hannah Eads, with members responding with their favorite 4-H project. The treasurer’s report was given by Elijah Barkes.

Inspirational messages were given by Alexis Eads and Jacob Roth. Claire Fitzgerald gave a community service report.

The club is collecting food for Hancock County Food Pantry, aluminum cans for the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen and plastic bottle caps for the Hancock County Ag Association and making crafts to donate to nursing homes.

Upcoming events were discussed and encouraged. A science demonstration was given by Owen and Ryan Eads. Demonstrations were also given by Alexis and Hannah Eads. Singing was led by Ryan Eads, and recreation was led by Alexis and Seth Eads. Members enjoyed making a craft project. Megan Bell provided snacks.

The following officers were elected: Megan Bell and Liz Roth, co-presidents; Katelynn Howell, vice president for float chairman and secretary; Hannah Eads, vice president for completion party and secretary; Jacob Roth, vice president for completion party and inspirational leader; Claire Fitzgerald, vice president for community service; Lizzie Chaffee, co-secretary; Elijah Barkes and Hunter Chaffee, co-treasurers; Ryan Eads and Christian Fitzgerald, song leaders; Hunter Adams and Hunter Chaffee, health and safety leaders; Owen and Ryan Eads, science leaders; Alexis Eads, inspirational leader and recreation leader; Hunter Adams and Seth Eads, recreation leaders.

Adult leaders are Joannie Bowen, Linda Petty and Jody Roth.

The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. April 14 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St. New members are welcome, including children with special needs, as meetings are designed to encourage their participation.
