The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Sept. 18

Greenfield-Central Jr. High School

Location: 1440 N. Franklin St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Lincoln Square Pancake House

Location: 901 E. Broadway, Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — food in refrigeration unit closest to hand sink not holding food at proper temperature, corrected; NC — refrigeration unit in waitress area does not have thermometer, faucet at three-compartment sink is leaking, food thermometers need to be accessible to people preparing food, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Eden Elementary

Location: 8155 N. State Road 9, Greenfield

Sept. 19

Village Pantry

Location: 5964 W. Pendleton Pike, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — demonstration of knowledge, no date marking, hot holding not at least 135, to be corrected by Oct. 1; C — roller foods must be held at 135 degrees or higher, corrected; C — date-marking must be placed on potentially hazardous foods in cooler, to be corrected by Sept. 19; NC — establishment must have person-in-charge on premises, to be corrected by Sept. 20; NC — ice machine leaking across floor with debris/slime and accumulating at exterior door, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Location: 1001 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC/R — sanitizer test strips must be available and used, ceiling repairs need to be painted to seal and made non-absorbent, to be corrected by Dec. 1; C — pizza prep table holding food too high at 50 degrees, to be corrected by Sept. 20.

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC — employees observed washing hands at three-compartment sink, corrected; R2 — employee observed emptying trash with food handling gloves then touching the outside of a package of sandwich wraps, corrected; NC — need to have working thermometer, to be corrected by Dec. 1; C — spray bottle with chemical marked water, to be corrected by Sept. 21.

Violations found: NC/R3 — clean floors under red burrito refrigeration/cold holding unit, also clean rolling carts holding ice buckets, carts used by fryer and cart in back room, to be corrected by Dec. 1; C — cheese on line for burgers too warm, corrected.
