The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

July 30

Dairy Queen

Location: 801 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R1 — must date mark lunch meat when opened and held more than 24 hours, corrected; C/R2 — must sanitize all food contact surfaces every four hours (cone sitting at drive-thru counter), corrected; C/R1 — clean utensils and equipment must be stored in a clean, protected manner and be clean to sight and touch, to be corrected by July 30; NC/R2 — repair/secure wall behind grill, to be corrected by Oct. 1; NC/R1 — clean carts and racks to remove debris, clean cake decorating area, clean three-compartment sink bays and floor, clean floor and walls to remove grease, grime and build-up, to be corrected by Oct. 1.

Subway

Location: 323 S. Oak St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R2 — cooler on line is at 52 degrees, corrected; NC — handles of in-use utensils must be stored above top of food, corrected; NC/R2 — need equipment thermometers in all refrigeration units, to be corrected by Aug. 15; NC/R3 — three-compartment sink is not working properly, only hot water — to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — hot water is at 69.8 degrees at the hand-washing sink on line and hand-washing sink in restroom, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC/R1 — need covers on light fixtures, to be corrected by Sept. 1.

Pizza King

Location: 215 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — in-use utensils/equipment must be cleaned and sanitized at least every four hours, corrected; NC — calibrate thermometer or replace, corrected; NC — need sanitizing test strips available, to be corrected by Aug. 15.
