GREENFIELD

Marshall Ray Helm, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Greenfield Healthcare Center. He was born on August 1, 1931, in Jamestown, KY as the son of Tim and Bessie Mae (Morgan) Helm. Marshall married Beverly Sue (Ball) on February 23, 1971, in Fortville.

He worked at Marsh in Greenfield as a meat cutter for 30 years and had also worked at Cameo Dental Lab in Greenfield for 13 years. He enjoyed working on cars, cooking meatloaf, chicken and noodles, and Crider’s-style onion rings, doing yard work, and traveling. Up until last year he rode his bike regularly on the Pennsy Trail. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.

Marshall is survived by his wife, Beverly Helm of Greenfield; children, Mary (Ed) DeHart of New Castle, Carl (Cathy) Helm of New Castle, Tamy (David) Ralstin of Zionsville, and David Helm of Martinsville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Bessie Helm; son, Michael Helm; brother, Alfred Helm; sisters, Lorrene Butler, Lois Groce, Ovaline Brown, Christine Lawless, Fay Ferguson, and Vertie Guffey; and twin sister, Margie Guffey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
