The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Strough’s Supermarket

Location: 624 N. Madison St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — sandwich spread may not be made with product that has exceeded seven days, cantaloupe which has been cut is a potentially dangerous food and may not exceed seven days, corrected/discarded; C — you may use time as a public health control for hot foods not held at 135 degrees, but after fours it must be discarded, may not cool down to resale, corrected/discarded; C — sanitizing solution dispenser not working properly, corrected; NC — wiping cloths must be stored in sanitizing solution between uses, corrected; NC — walls and ceiling degrading in dairy/egg cooler, to be corrected by June 1; NC/R — gap at back exterior door needs to be repaired/replaced, to be corrected by June 1.
