Softball roundup: New Pal rolling with win over Shelbyville

New Palestine’s softball team improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 4-1 victory at Shelbyville Thursday.

Allie Blum had three hits with a double and solo home run. She scored two of the Dragons four runs. Sydney Oliver had two hits and two RBI. Reese Rosenbaum also had two hits. Paige Ernstes hit a double.

Courtney Study threw a five-hit complete game.

New Palestine travels to Franklin (9-7) Monday.

Royals beat Randolph Southern

Emily Hodges threw a one-hitter and struck out 11 and got more than enough offensive support in Eastern Hancock’s softball team’s 16-0 Mid-Eastern Conference victory over Randolph Southern Thursday.

The Royals scored 10 runs in the first inning.

Hodges had a team-best three hits with two doubles. Lilli Ringer had a double and three RBI. Emree Truitt had two hits with a double and two RBI. Sammie Bolding had a double and an RBI.

Eastern Hancock is 4-0 in MEC games.

The Royals (9-1) play host to Heritage Christian (7-4) Monday.

G-C beats Delta

In a makeup game rained out earlier in the week, Greenfield-Central’s softball team defeated host Delta 21-1 on Thursday.

The Cougars scored in every inning. Charlotte Riehle had four hits, scored five runs and had three RBI. Savvanna Riall had three hits, scored three times and had two RBI.

Kristen Wineinger had two hits, scored three runs and had an RBI. Makenna Rankins had a pair of hits, scored a run and drove in two. LeiLeanna Faitele had two hits, a run and two RBI.

Madysen Herbert got the victory in the circle. She allowed just two hits and no earned runs in four innings. She struck out four.

Greenfield-Central (8-5, 1-2) hosts Hoosier Heritage Conference foe New Castle (2-12, 0-4) Monday.

Marauders fall at Fishers

The Mt. Vernon softball team lost 6-5 at Fishers Thursday.

The Marauders led 5-3, but the Tigers rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Easton Wampler went 4-for-4 with two RBI. Ainsley Baer and Lili Jenkins each hit doubles. Baer had an RBI.

Emery Wampler and Shelby Rakosky each had hits. Hannah Matthews and Mikayla Oger each had an RBI.

Mt. Vernon (5-8) travels to Noblesville Monday.
