Kindergarten registration events coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several Kindergarten Round Up events are coming up throughout Hancock County.

The events allow children who are 5 years old by Aug. 1 to sign up for the 2024-25 school year.

Greenfield-Central’s elementary schools will have roundups in April. The first step is to complete the online enrollment form found on the Greenfield Central website, gcsc.k12.in.us. Go to the “Kindergarten Info” tab. Parents need a digital copy of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records (photos are acceptable). Those who are unable to load a digital copy should bring the records to the kindergarten roundup event.

Once the online enrollment form is completed, monitor email for more details about Kindergarten Round Up events, which will occur onsite. Families will sign up for a time slot.

Roundups are 3-6 p.m. April 15 and 17 at Eden Elementary School and JB Stephens Elementary School; and 3-6 p.m. April 16 and April 18 at Harris Elementary School and Weston Elementary School.

Southern Hancock families will have Kindergarten Roundup events 5-7 p.m. April 11 at all three elementary schools.

The district serves children in Sugar Creek and Brandywine townships and includes Brandywine, New Palestine and Sugar Creek elementary schools. Those who are unsure about which elementary school their child will attend should email Amber Rush at [email protected].

Complete a pre-enrollment form at newpal.k12.in.us/departments/registrationenrollment. Plan to bring a birth certificate, immunization records, driver’s license or state-issued photo ID card, and two additional proofs of residency such as a mortgage statement, paystub, tax return, utility bill or lease agreement.

Mt. Vernon serves children that live in Buck Creek and Vernon townships, and online registration opens March 25.

Step one for kindergarten families is to register on or after March 25 at mvcsc.k12.in.us/kdgroundup. The next step is to attend a Kindergarten Roundup event between 3:30-6:30 p.m. April 2 and April 4 at Fortville, McCordsville or Mt. Comfort elementary schools. Those who are unsure about which school their child would attend can visit the website for a boundary map. Families should bring their student to be screened for hearing and academic skills; a copy of their birth certificate and immunization records; proof of residency; parents driver’s license; and, if applicable, copies of court papers or individual education plans.

Students that want to transfer into the district but live outside of boundaries must apply during two application windows; see the website for details.

Eastern Hancock Elementary School already had its roundup in March, but parents can still learn more about the district or enroll through easternhancock.org.
