The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

Aug. 7

VIP Legacy 9 Cinema

2347 W. Main St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC – establishment needs to install a three-compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize, to be corrected by Sept. 9; C – a sink that is used for food preparation or ware washing cannot have a direct connection to the sewage system. An air gap must exist between the drain line and the sewage system, to be corrected by Sept. 7; NC – wall under two-compartment sink has large opening into interior of wall. The opening needs to be enclosed, to be corrected by Sept. 7.

Aug. 21

Mama Nita’s

5040 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine

Violations found: NC – debris on floor and under three-compartment sink, pizza prep tables and mop sink area, food debris on wall and cabinet by pizza prep cooler, to be corrected by Aug. 28; NC, R – some debris on outsides of dough trays and lids, cart holding cans has debris, to be corrected by Aug. 28; NC, R – door jam at back door has part of wall covering coming off, seal mop sink at the back is missing, to be corrected by Sept. 12; NC – surface of cabinet by pizza prep table is no longer smooth, cleanable and non-absorbent due to exposed particle board, container holding salad bar containers also has exposed particle board, to be corrected by Sept. 12.
