The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

July 3

Leo’s Market and Eatery

8956 N. 600W., McCordsville

Violations found: NC – paper towels are not available at hand sink, to be corrected by July 5; NC – plastic spoons need to be inverted so employees are touching the handle, corrected.

July 5

The Depot

240 W. Mill St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – date mark on ham in salad area had expiration of June 3, corrected; C – turkey in salad prep area did not have date mark, corrected; C – dish machine not dispensing sanitizer, corrected.

Burger King

2706 N. 600W., Greenfield

Violations found: C – some chicken in hot-holding was below 135 degrees, corrected; NC, R – some grease/debris build-up on floor, fryer has leaking grease line and repair has been called in, to be corrected by July 30.

July 11

Long John Silvers

2080 W. Main St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC – grease build-up on floors throughout establishment, debris build-up on floor under fryers, some debris in corners/crevices on floors in kitchen, to be corrected by July 18; NC, R – coving throughout kitchen is coming away from wall, cabinet under cashier/slaw holding is damaged and wood exposed, submit a plan to the health department for repairs, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C – health reporting policy does not include norovirus, if employee is diagnosed with one of the big five then the regulatory authority must release employee to come back to work, sample policy was given.

July 13

Hawks Tail

145 S. Morristown Pike, Greenfield

Violations found: C – need to have employee that has food protection manager certification, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C – plumbing at three-compartment sink is directly connected between drain line and sewage system, must have air gap installed, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C – all deli meats for sandwiches are dated with dates that exceed seven days, corrected; NC – some lights are not working in kitchen, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

July 14

AFC Sushi at Kroger

1571 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – employee observed not washing hands before putting on food-handling gloves, corrected; C – some debris in drawer where peeler and tongs are stored, to be corrected by July 15; NC – outsides of drawer units have debris, to be corrected by July 15.

July 25

Little Caesar’s Pizza

1633 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC, R3 – debris build-up on walls, floors, coving throughout, to be corrected by Aug. 8; NC, R3 – debris build-up on casters of rolling equipment, in cracks and crevices around doors of reach-in cooler on prep line, to be corrected by Aug. 8; C – prep line cold holding area not cooling, cheese and meats between 60 and 70 degrees, products thrown out.

Hitherto Coffee and Gaming Parlour

Violation found: C – unlabeled spray bottle with yellow liquid on chemical rack, corrected.
