The Hancock County Extension Homemakers will present a free lecture on human trafficking 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield.

The lecture will be presented by Heather Maravilla, Regional Coalition Coordinator for the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (ITVAP). Maravilla provides first-hand experience on the prevalence of trafficking in our culture and the tactics used to groom children, teens and even adults into the trade.

Her talk will include youth populations most vulnerable to human trafficking, how to recognize red flags and ways in which ITVAP can support local agencies.

Maravilla is a Lived-Experienced Expert in domestic sex trafficking and domestic violence, and has worked in the anti-trafficking field for six years in a variety of roles. Her current work as a regional coordinator for ITVAP covers Marion and its surrounding counties.

Thursday’s lecture is free and open to the public at the Hancock County Public Library branch at 900 W. McKenzie Road in Greenfield.
