White, Brown take part in all-star classic

ANDERSON — Eastern Hancock rising-senior Ruby White and Greenfield-Central rising-junior Chaney Brown played in Saturday’s 15th Annual Indiana Basketball All-Star Classic at Anderson University’s O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

It was the second straight year Brown played in the multi-game event that features top boys and girls high school basketball players from around the state. Four boys games were played Friday. Four girls games were played Saturday.

In the Saturday opener, in the first of two games of rising seniors, White’s Team Red defeated Team White 68-63.

White had nine points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field and 1 of 2 shooting at the free-throw line. She also had five rebounds in just under 21 minutes of playing time. Camryn Runner, of Hamilton Heights, led Team Red with 15 points. Emma Sperry, of Frankton and Team White, led all scorers with 23 points.

Brown played in the day’s final game that included players that will be sophomores or juniors next school year.

On the winning squad in her all-star classic game a year ago, Brown’s team, Team Red, lost 64-56 to Team White at AU Saturday evening.

Brown had two points and a rebound in over 14 minutes of playing time. Her team was led in scoring by Noblesville’s Meredith Tippner with 15 points. Maya Layton, of Team White and Faith Christian School, led all scorers with 19 points.

Brown also participated Thursday in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Top 100 Workout.
