Deadline approaches for G-C alumni honors

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Central School Foundation is seeking nominations for deserving alumni to be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame.

Criteria includes a person who is a G-CHS graduate who has been out of school at least 10 years (or Hancock Central, Eden, Maxwell or Greenfield High School graduate); has a special achievement within the nominee’s profession; has received honors, awards or other recognitions; has demonstrated community service; and has made meritorious contributions to society in general.

The deadline for nominations is May 1. Inductions will be made at the Red Letter Gala this September. Visit gcschoolfoundation.com for more information and to complete a nomination form.

Nonprofit workshop coming up

SHELBYVILLE – Shelby and Hancock County residents can attend a free workshop May 2 on starting and organizing nonprofits.

The event, called Nonprofit Formation (& Upkeep) Workshop, will be 10 a.m. to noon at ECHO Effect Arts Campus, 102 E. Washington St., Shelbyville. The workshop is hosted by the Blue River Community Foundation and Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. The interactive session will focus on how to successfully launch a nonprofit; the benefits of having a nonprofit and pitfalls to avoid; navigating best practices and more. If someone has already started a nonprofit, they are still encouraged to come and learn more. A question-and-answer session will be included.

Girls troop to host rummage sale

GREENFIELD – American Heritage Girls Troop IN5954 will have its third annual Rummage Sale this weekend.

The group will raise money through the sale of furniture, tools, clothing, toys, books and more. The donation-based event is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 28 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at Calvary Christian Fellowship, 79 S. 700W., Greenfield.

Couples event this weekend in Wilkinson

WILKINSON – The Wilkinson Church of Christ is hosting a Couples Night Out this Saturday with comedian Danny Adams.

The event, from 6-8 p.m. at the church, 7293 Ind. 109, Wilkinson, includes dinner with childcare available. Cost is $30 per couple. Learn more or order tickets at wccin.org/events.
