Students to gather at Fields of Faith

FORTVILLE — Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Fields of Faith is designed to be spiritually encouraging for youths and adults.

It’s set for 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Hancock Health Stadium at Mt. Vernon High School, 8112 N. County Road 200W, Fortville.

The event is free and will feature testimonies by local high school athletes, food, T-shirts and games.

The keynote speaker will be Ben Malcolmson, who played football for USC and later served eight years on the staff of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

Winona Avenue will play a concert and lead worship music at the event. The band is made up of brothers Daniel and David Deputy.

“We grew up attending Mt Vernon High School, so we’re looking forward to returning and revisiting all the memories,” the band said in a statement. “Being a part of Fields of Faith is important to us because it’s an opportunity to share a message of positivity and hope with the community, while at the same time performing a fun and energetic rock concert. … This will be our first hometown show in a while after being on tour for a couple of months, so we’re excited to get back to Indy, and hopefully we’ll see some familiar faces.”

Eastern Hancock athletic director Aaron Spaulding will also speak at the event.
