Why are you running for office?

My experience on the Greenfield City Council is very important in the upcoming term, as we will have a new mayor, and at least three new city council representatives. I want to have the opportunity to continue working with our existing and newly elected officials as well as our department heads and city employees. We know that Greenfield is destined to grow, due to our location, affordability, and quality of life. Together, we have work to do to support growth of our city in a well-planned manner while addressing public safety, utilities, and the necessary infrastructure to support our community.

How are you qualified?

In my past 16 years of service to our city I’ve worked with current and former mayors, department heads and council members and have gained a great deal of experience in all facets of city government. I’ve also worked with many citizens and businesses, and I believe this experience has prepared me to continue to serve Greenfield as city council at-large. My decisions are based on what is best for our citizens on all topics: public safety, our infrastructure, our utilities, our city employees, and the budgets needed to support all in a balanced manner.

What are the most pressing issues facing Greenfield?

I believe our most pressing issue is our readiness for growth. We must effectively plan and budget for our city’s needs in the short and long term with respect to public safety, housing, jobs, and infrastructure. These areas will require significant planning time and funding as well as the necessity to work closely with the county, state and federal government to take advantage of all grants and matching funds available.

Do you support increasing the general tax rate for the Greenfield Fire Protection Territory? Why or why not?

Yes, I do support this increase. We cannot safely support the fire protection of Center Township and the city without supporting the growth needs of the fire department. We will need proper equipment, training and staffing as well as another station to support our growth.
