Wisehart is homecoming speaker

INDIANAPOLIS — Dr. Lenny Wisehart, who grew up going to Fortville Church of the Nazarene, will be a guest speaker at homecoming services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Indianapolis First Church of the Nazarene.

Wisehart and his wife, the Rev. Joy Wisehart, will speak in Sunday’s service. After years of ministry pastoring churches, they have launched Wisehart Ministries.

The Orpheus Choir from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois will be musical guests. A free lunch follows the service.

Mohawk church plans auction

MOHAWK — Mohawk United Methodist Church will have a charity auction on Sunday. A free lunch is available at 11 a.m., followed by the auction at noon.

Farm and home machinery, tools, homemade food and baked goods, handmade items, gift baskets and gifts, toys and games, and other items will be up for bidding.

Money raised will go toward ministry needs for this year. The church is located at 2045 W. County Road 200N, Greenfield.

Chili cookoff is Feb. 25

FORTVILLE — Parishioners will bring their best pot of chili to the St. Thomas Chili Cook-off, set for 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 523 S. Merrill St.

Those not bringing a pot of chili can offer dessert or salad items. Hotdogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chili toppings, table service and drinks will be provided.

The event is sponsored by the parish’s Religious Education Committee. The 2022 chili cookoff winner was Kevin Wagner.

Body Builders to promote evangelism

GREENFIELD — The inaugural meeting of Greater Greenfield Body Builders is from 9 a.m. to noon March 11 at Curry’s Chapel Church, 3488 N. County Road 375E, Greenfield.

Don Barnes, pastor of Greater Grace of Central Indiana, will give the opening prayer. Rich Bailey, pastor of Curry’s Chapel Church, will give the keynote “Don’t Look Up.” Retired Curry’s Chapel pastor Steve Ellis will speak on “Foundational Mandates,” including the Great Commission in Matthew 28 of the Bible. Alex Wortham, bishop of Kingdom Word Outreach Ministries in downtown Greenfield, will speak on “No CHILD Left Behind.”
