INDOT Greenfield District employees built a snow plow for the “Canstruction” competition, in which State of Indiana agencies build structures made of donated canned food and compete for two awards: Most Cans Donated and Best Structure. INDOT Greenfield was runner-up for most cans donated, with 2,017 cans, and received an honorable mention in the structure category. At the end of the competition, all cans are donated to local food banks. State of Indiana agencies collected 26,563 cans for community food pantries. INDOT Greenfield District (or “INDOT East Central” as it’s known on Facebook and Twitter) spans parts or all of 15 counties in east central Indiana. It tries to distribute food across its geographic district by rotating food pantries every year. This year it plans to deliver the canned food to Knightstown Community Food Pantry and Community Food Sharing Pantry in Connersville.
