Dragons split tri-meet at Greenwood

New Palestine’s girls swimming team won one and lost one at Greenwood High School Thursday.

The Dragons defeated Roncalli 54-47 and lost to Greenwood 52-48.

For New Pal, Katelyn Trimpe won the 200-yard freestyle (2:15.04). Chloe Siler was victorious in the 50 freestyle (26.62 seconds). Lauren Appleby won the 1-meter diving competition (136.8 points) and the team of Rachel Hamilton, Madalyn Bard, Heidi Bloomer and Lillie Abernathy won the 400 freestyle relay (4:32.74).

The next meet will include the boys team, too. The Dragon swimmers are in action Nov. 29 against Greenfield-Central at the New Palestine Natatorium.

Eastern loses opener

Eastern Hancock’s girls swimming team went 1-1 in a tri-meet Thursday at the EH pool.

It was the season-opener for the Royals.

New Castle won with 101 points. Eastern Hancock had 42 and Batesville scored 26.

The Royals return to action Monday with another home tri-meet with Centerville and Seton Catholic. The meet will include both the boys and girls teams.

Girls wrestling

G-C falls to Warren

Greenfield-Central’s girls wrestling team dropped a 46-6 decision to visiting Warren Central Thursday.

The Cougars picked up their lone win from 113-pounder Kylie Smith-Foster. She won by fall over Nakeeya Riley.

Greenfield-Central is 1-1 in dual meets. The Cougars are back in action Saturday at the Northview Invitational.
