Dragons remain on top of AP poll

For the second straight week, New Palestine is ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Class 4A football poll, released Tuesday.

The Dragons received 16 of 18 first-place votes and have 354 total points. Indianapolis Roncalli received the other two first-place votes and is second with 320 points.

New Palestine (2-0) beat then-Class 5A No. 2 Decatur Central 49-0 last week. The Dragons have their first road and Hoosier Heritage Conference game this Friday at Yorktown.

The Dragons are No. 1 in both the AP and IFCA (Indiana Football Coaches Association) polls.

Mt. Vernon (0-2) dropped from No. 6 to No. 10 in this week’s AP Class 4A rankings. The Marauders lost 20-17 to Class 5A No. 6 Franklin last week. The Marauders open their home and HHC season Friday welcoming rival Greenfield-Central (2-0).

The Cougars are ranked No. 8 in the IFCA Class 4A poll. For the first time, they are receiving votes in the AP poll and are just outside the Top 10.
