The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

Feb. 2

Dave’s Meat Market

333 S. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC – need to provide paper towels at both hand sinks, to be corrected by Feb. 2; NC – need to provide hand-washing soap at hand sink in meat cutting room, to be corrected by Feb. 4; C – sanitizer too strong, to be corrected by Feb. 4; NC – debris build-up on table in walk-in cooler, to be corrected by Feb. 4; NC – water dripping from ceiling in several places, to be corrected by Feb. 15; NC – need to remove items unnecessary to the operation and maintenance of the establishment, to be corrected by Feb. 15; NC – need to provide test strips for sanitizer, to be corrected by Feb. 15; C – food contact surfaces should be washed, rinsed, then sanitized, corrected.

Feb. 9

Montana Mike’s

1945 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC, R – ice scoop in waitress area is being stored on drink dispenser, tongs for rolls is being stored on heat apparatus and eating utensils need to be stored handles-up, corrected; NC – paper towels not dispensing in women’s restroom, corrected; NC – some debris accumulation on floors under and behind equipment on cook line, to be corrected by Feb. 15; NC – some build-up of debris on equipment handles and shelving on cook line, to be corrected by Feb. 15; NC – temperature measuring devices need to be in refrigeration units that do not have external reading, to be corrected by Feb. 15.

Greenfield Nutrition

858 S. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: NC – need to provide toilet paper in restroom, corrected; NC – need to provide paper towels in restroom, corrected; NC – coving behind the ice machine is coming off, to be corrected by Feb. 15; NC, R – wood support stand still being used for ice machine, needs to be plastic or stainless steel, to be corrected by Feb. 15.

Feb. 10

Cortona’s Italian Cuisine and Wine Bar

209 S. Main St., Fortville

Violation found: NC, R – more light needs to be provided over three-compartment sink, to be corrected by March 1.

Feb. 11

Aramark at Elanco

2500 Innovation Way, Greenfield

Violation found: NC – need to provide paper towel dispenser in coffee bar area, to be corrected by Feb. 28.
