GREENFIELD
Masel Gearlds, age 82, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Thompkinsville, Kentucky on December 13, 1938, to Robert and Mimi (Dodson) Gearlds. He graduated high school and attended Ivy Tech. Mr. Gearlds served in the army as an SP-4. He married Dyann Cecile Curry on November 28, 1964.
He worked for Chrysler in production control for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Mr. Gearlds was a member of the UAW#550 and attended New Palestine Bible Church. He enjoyed golf and traveling. He was an avid fan of the Colts and IU sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dyann; sons, Robert (Becky) Gearlds and Gregory (Judith) Gearlds, both of Greenfield; grandchildren, Ryan, Austin, Grace, and Tyler; and brother, Paul Gearlds of Martinsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Nadine Thompson, William “Stack” Gearlds, Freddie Gearlds, Carolee Ford, and Eulene Bean.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, Indiana from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brett Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military honors rendered by the US Army and Greefield Veterans Honor Guard.
