Pastor Ford D. Bond, age 64, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born in Terre Haute on October 16, 1956 to Roy E. Bond and Gertrude F. (Cooksey) Bond. He graduated from Brazil High School in 1975. Pastor Bond earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University in 1992 and his master’s degree in 1994. On March 14, 1992, he married Janis M. (Foote) Bond in Terre Haute.

Ford was ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He founded Gateway Tabernacle in 1984. In 1985, he felt called to work with Elder, Mitchell Cleatham, at Haywood Memorial Church in Greencastle. In 1997, he felt called to pastor in the United Methodist Church. He became a local pastor and was first appointed to Nine Mile United Methodist Church in Linton, Indiana. He served White River Chapel, New Lebanon, Rose Chapel, Plainville, Prairieton, Coal City, Beech, Shelburn, and Jasonville United Methodist Churches. Ford was also a teacher at Linton Stockton High School from 1992 until 2016. In 2014, he went into full time ministry and served Amity United Methodist Church until his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Rev. Janis Bond of Greenfield; daughters, Laurie (Mario) Victoriano of Washington, IN and Jessica (Mario) Garcia of Washington, IN; step-son, Eric (Lisa) Pethtel of Fortville; step-daughters, Michele Pethtel Rhodarmer of West Columbia, SC, Susan (Mike Sims) Pritchard of Elliottsville, IN; brother, David (Bambi) Bond of Rockville, IN; twin brother, Rev. Curtis (Rev. Kay) Bond of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren, Abraham, Yadier, and Lucia Victoriano and Adrianna and Mario Garcia all of Washington, IN, Payton Pethtel of Indianapolis, Kyle Pethtel of USAF FL, Tyler Pethtel of Indianapolis, Trent (Megan) Pethtel of Indianapolis, Avery (Jorren Locher) Pritchard of Evansville, Zane Neibregge of Elliottsville, IN, Lauren (Wes) Anderson of New Palestine, Cameron Collins of USAF Washington, DC; great-grandchildren, Kolton Pethtel and Colter June Locher; nephew, James Bond; nieces, Amy Bond, Larissa (Dan) Colombo of Lansing, KS, Leah (Josh) Tetidrick of Brazil, IN, Leslie Bond of Kansas City, MO, Riley, Lucy, Audrey, and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Gertrude; and loving K-9 friend, Lady.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Amity United Methodist Church, 6042 W 100 N, Greenfield, 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Rev. Curtis W. Bond will be officiating, and David Bond will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. in Brazil, Indiana.
