WILKINSON — A kitchen fire spread quickly through a house trailer Thursday night, resulting in a total loss for the structure.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at about 8 p.m. in the 400 block of South Second Street in Wilkinson. Capt. John Collins with the Wilkinson Volunteer Fire Department said heavy smoke was coming from the residence upon firefighters’ arrival.

Collins said firefighters got the fire under control in about 10 to 15 minutes, but remained on scene for several hours putting out hot spots and ensuring flames wouldn’t start up again. The house trailer was a total loss, he added.

One occupant was inside the residence when the fire started and made it out safely, Collins said. An air fryer is believed to have caused the fire.
