HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department will bring back its teen academy this summer after the program was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The 2021 Hancock County Teen Police Academy will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18. Most activities will be held at Greenfield-Central High School.

The camp will follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Classes will touch on a variety of law enforcement topics, including drunken driving enforcement; simulated firearms training, crime scene investigations; working with K-9s; and more.

The academy is free for Hancock County residents ages 13 to 17 with no criminal record. Applications will be available on the sheriff’s department’s website beginning May 1. Visit sheriffweb.hancockcoingov.org/community-outreach for more details.
