Six girls coaches honored by IBCA

On Tuesday, it was announced that a total of six Indiana high school girls basketball coaches have been chosen as 2021 Bob King Coaches of the Year by their peers in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Mark Redding of Carroll (Fort Wayne), Chris Seibert of Crown Point, Donna Buckley of Noblesville, Debbie Smiley of Brownsburg, Jared Rehmel of Linton-Stockton and Scott Schoen of Silver Creek have been selected as honorees for the 2020-21 season through voting that occurred from late January through early March, IBCA executive director Steve Witty said.

Honors are awarded according to IHSAA district boundaries, and two coaches from each district are recipients – Redding and Seibert in District 1; Buckley and Smiley in District 2; and Rehmel and Schoen in District 3.

Indiana boys Junior All-Stars named

On Tuesday, it was announced by Indiana All-Star game director that 12 players have been selected for the IndyStar Indiana boys Junior All-Stars for 2021.

For this year, the Juniors All-Stars will play just one game on June 9 against the Indiana senior All-Stars at a site to be determined.

The game on June 9 against the Indiana senior All-Stars will be a doubleheader with boys and girls. The Indiana All-Star senior boys team will be chosen in April. The Indiana junior girls team and the Indiana senior girls team were announced earlier in March.

The Junior All-Star team was selected through a process that allows all IBCA-member head coaches to nominate players through the IBCA all-state process.

Royals softball conducting fundraising campaign

The 2021 Eastern Hancock softball team is conducting an online fundraiser.

The team is asking for donations that will go towards equipment, fees and travel costs. Donation amounts range from $20-$1,000.

The team is attempting to raise $7,000 as a group of 25 members. The fundraiser has netted $6,720 as of Tuesday morning. The campaign will run through April 1.
