Friday roundup: Dragons, Royals have unbeaten conference seasons

New Palestine (20-3, 7-0) finished off an unbeaten Hoosier Heritage Conference softball schedule with a 16-0 win over visiting Delta (3-20, 1-6) Friday.

Allie Blum went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a triple, four runs scored and four RBI.

Ella Holman had a double, triple and four RBI. Maddie Engle had three hits with a double and RBI. Sydney Oliver had two hits with two RBI. Paige Ernstes had two hits with a double and RBI. Nyla Lewis hit a triple. Katie Hirschy had a hit and RBI and Jersi Gross had a hit and two runs scored.

Starting pitcher Courtney Study went 3.2 innings and struck out eight.

Royals finish off perfect MEC season

Eastern Hancock’s softball team defeated host Wes-Del 12-0 Friday to finish off its regular season undefeated in the Mid-Eastern Conference.

Eastern Hancock (22-2, 7-0) outscored conference opponents 86-4 in seven league games.

Kenna Stewart threw a two-hitter and struck out eight.

Brooklyn Willis had a home run and two RBI. Emily Hodges had three hits and three RBI. Camryn Blue had a double and two RBI. Sammie Bolding had a double, triple and an RBI. Lilli Ringer had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Cameron Spegal added a hit and two runs. Addisyn Trackwell had two runs, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Wes-Del is 13-9 and 3-4 in the MEC.

Baseball

Dragons down Greenwood

New Palestine’s baseball team jumped out early with a seven-run first inning and defeated visiting Greenwood 10-0 Friday.

Michael Thorpe threw a two-hitter and struck out nine in five innings.

New Palestine’s offense was led by Jacob Morris with two hits, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.

Gavin Neal had a double and RBI. Nic Deering had a hit, RBI and scored two runs.

Jace Jaques had a double and an RBI. Rigg Mahurin drove in a run with a hit. Wyatt Matheis and Adam Rickey each had an RBI.

New Palestine improved to 21-5. Greenwood dropped to 12-12.
