County adds COVID-19 death, 54 cases

HANCOCK COUNTY — A county resident died this week from COVID-19, the Indiana State Department of Health reported Friday, raising the local death toll to 49.

The victim was a woman in her 70s who died on Nov. 18, according to the state’s online COVID-19 dashboard.

Hancock County also added 54 coronavirus cases Friday, raising its total to 2,270. Another 633 tests administered between Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 brought that total to 39,481. More than 24,000 individuals have been tested in the county.

The county’s seven-day (Nov. 7-13) positivity rate for all tests dropped to 9.9%, while the cumulative rate rose slightly to 5.5%. The seven-day positivity rate for unique individuals dropped slightly to 17.4%, while the cumulative rate rose slightly to 9.5%.

Indiana added 6,912 cases Friday, raising the total to 282,311. The state’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 4,952 after 63 more fatalities were recorded from between Nov. 8 and 19.
