WHITING — The National Mascot Hall of Fame (MHOF) in Whiting, Indiana, recently hosted the first-ever Virtual Induction Ceremony, giving fans around the globe an at-home opportunity to see the 2020 MHOF inductees receive their rings. Reggy, a non-threatening pink monster with yellow French fry-like projections for hair, hosts the ceremony to induct the Oriole Bird (Baltimore Orioles, Major League Baseball), Youppi! (Canadiens de Montreal, National Hockey League), and Indiana’s own Blue (Indianapolis Colts, National Football League) and Boomer (Indiana Pacers, National Basketball Association).

Typically, the Mascot Hall of Fame hosts an annual Induction Weekend: a three-day event honoring the newest MHOF inductees. Induction Weekend draws visitors and fans from all over to partake in a weekend featuring appearances by Hall of Fame Mascots, special guests and media personnel, and, of course, the Official Ring Ceremony.

However, due to COVID-19 and current State of Indiana guidelines, MHOF executives made the decision to cancel the live 2020 Induction Weekend in favor of a virtual one.
