GREENFIELD

Paul J. Vire, 80, of Greenfield, passed away July 19th, 2020. He was born June 19, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Cecil and Ethel (Valerie) Vire.

He was born again in Christian faith June, 1950 in Steubenville, KY.Paul married the love of his life, Jaci (Jones) Vire, and they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage together.

For 29 years, Paul worked as Executive Vice President and general manager for Ropkey Graphics. He then started his own company, DCG, which he ran for 8 years. After selling DCG, Paul worked for Digital Printers until retirement.

Paul was a very active man, holding memberships in many organizations. He was a past member of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis. He served on Board of Directors, on several committees, belonged to the Rotary Bowling League for many years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past member of International Prepress Association, where he served on the board of directors, and chaired the Programs Committee. He was also a past member of Printing Industries of Indiana where he served on the board of directors.

Paul played basketball with Sheplers 40/40 group for over 25 years. He loved bowling and bowled in several leagues for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and writing songs and poetry.Faith was a huge part of Paul’s life. He was proudly a founding, charter member of Heather Hills Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Supervisor, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Missionary Committee, and was Lay Music Director on two different occasions serving for several years.Paul was a current member Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jaci Vire; his children Tim (Lora) Vire and Diane (Mike) Mills, grandchildren Mark Vire, Josh(Bre) Vire, Kristin(Adam) Prater, Jenna Sprague, Mathew Vire, and Abbey Vire, grandchildren Adeline Prater, brother Bill Vire of Columbus, IN, and sister-law Bette Marzola of Tacoma, WA.

Besides his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his brother Bob (Betty) Marzola of Tacoma, WA; and sister Virginia of Detroit, MI.

We will not be able to have a Celebration of Life service for 2-3 months when it is safe to gather together after COVID restrictions lessen. Details will be shared when available. We will be having a private, immediate family graveside service next week.

BUT, to include all of our loved ones, friends, and church families and as a surprise show of support to my mom, we will be having a drive-by parade on this upcoming Saturday, July 25th at 3 p.m.

We are asking everyone to meet in the parking lot of Park Chapel Christian Church (1176 E McKenzie Rd Greenfield, IN 46140) at 2:30 p.m. which is around the corner from my parents’ house (1058 E Apple Lake Dr Greenfield, IN 46140). We would love to show her as much support as possible, so anyone is welcome!
