FORTVILLE
Betty A. (Pyles) Kiphart, age 94, of Fortville, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Traditions at Brookside in McCordsville. She was born in Angola, Indiana on August 12, 1925 to Claudius D. and Mary Alice (Smith) Pyles. Betty married James A. Kiphart on April 25, 1942.
Betty and her husband raised five children. Church played a big role in her life and kept her family busy. She volunteered at Hancock County Memorial Hospital for many years. Betty enjoyed gardening and sewing. She especially enjoyed crocheting decorative edging around kitchen towels and washcloths.
Betty is survived by her four daughters, Jolinda Shelton of Fullerton, CA, Janet (Lewis) Belcher of Fortville, Jill Konija of Zionsville, and Judith Hudson of Fort Collins, CO; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudius and Mary Pyles; husband, James A. Kiphart, Jr.; son, James A. Kiphart, Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Sturgill; and three sisters, Helen Craig, Georgia Ruth Hickman, and Doris Jennings.
Private family services will take place and burial will be at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton.
