Food Safety

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Jan. 8

Dollar General

Location: 2000 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

CVS Pharmacy

Location: 1233 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — need to have thermometer in refrigeration unit in back of store, to be corrected by March 1.

Jan. 9

Jimmy John’s

Location: 1310 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — spray bottle with chemical not labeled with common name of chemical, corrected.

Jan. 10

Round the Corner Grill

Location: 19 S. Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair leak at ceiling and floor tiles in kitchen, lips of to-go cups stored on ice machine are not protected, floors under equipment have grime/grease build-up, to be corrected by Jan. 31; NC — hand soap needs to be provided at hand sink in bar area, need to provide a thin-tipped food thermometer for thin patties, to be corrected by Jan. 31; C/R — no dates on homemade slaw and aioli, to be corrected by Jan. 13; NC/R — handle of ice scoop in ice and using cups to dispense items out of salad prep, to be corrected by Jan. 13; C — debris present on slicer blade on knives line, corrected; C — sanitizer too strong in sani-bucket, to be corrected by Jan. 13; C/R — no certified food handler certification in establishment, to be corrected by Jan. 31.
