The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 22

Waffle House

Location: 1752 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Mama Nita’s

Location: 5040 W. U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – repair/replace seal on walk-in cooler, replace burned out lightbulbs, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC/R4 – clean walk-in cooler floor and door, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

May 24

Chicago’s Pizza

Location: 1031 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R4 – proportioned cheese sauce in wait stations is at 114 degrees (must be held at 135 degrees or higher), corrected/discarded; C – lunch meat, in-house made dressings etc., cannot exceed seven days, corrected/discarded; dish machine is sanitizing at 25 PPM (must be at least 50 PPM), corrected; NC – glasses stored near drink dispenser must be protected from contamination, must allow glasses to air dry before stacking, corrected; NC – dish machine water temperature is at 112 degrees (must be at least 120 degrees), to be corrected by June 10; NC/R3 – filters for hood, tracks of hot hold unit, racking holding cans near hot hold unit need to be cleaned to remove debris and build-up, to be corrected by July 1.

Hawks Tail

Location: 145 S. Morristown Pike, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – dish machine is not sanitizing properly, utensils in-use must be cleaned and sanitized at least every four hours, corrected.
