The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 13

Express Cafe

Location: 1649 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

May 14

Arby’s

Location: 1705 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – meats on line too warm (need to hold at 41 degrees or below), corrected; NC – repair seal on reach-in freezer and walk-in freezer doors.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill

Location: 1792 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – treat all surfaces contacted with food handling gloves then food like food contact surfaces not under temperature control, clean every four hours, corrected; NC – dish machine does not have detergent, corrected; NC – repair seal at walk-in freezer door to prevent ice build-up, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Location: 2243 N. State Road 9, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R3 – expired bologna and deli meats, corrected/discarded.

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – fried chicken at 80 degrees (need to be held at 41 degrees or below), sanitizer at three-compartment sink needs to be at least 50 PPM, corrected.

Location: 30 W. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – two items on hot-holding line not being held hot enough, spray bottles with sanitizer not labeled, corrected; NC – paper towel dispenser not working at hand sink by dish machine, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen

Location: 1981 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – raw chicken batter on button of fryer, inside door of walk-in cooler, corrected; NC – hot water not working upon arrival, but was fixed during inspection, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Pizza King

Location: 12100 E. Washington St., Cumberland

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – must allow glasses to air dry before stacking, to be corrected by May 22; NC/R3 – clean container holding ice scoop, to be corrected by May 22.

Burger King

Location: 1620 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – handle of ice scoop in ice, corrected.
