The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 9

Dairy Queen

Location: 801 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – must wash hands when changing tasks such as washing/handling dirty dishes and returning to prepare food, utensils and food contact surfaces of equipment must be sanitized immediately after cleaning, corrected; NC – utensils and equipment must air dry (do not use paper towels), corrected; NC/R2 – hood above grill enables grease to drip onto floor, to be corrected by June 15; NC – must change gloves when changing tasks, working with ready-to-eat to raw to ready-to-eat foods, corrected; NC/R4 – carts storing food wraps/containers, shelving for clean equipment/utensils, interior of prep cooler, doors and handles need to be cleaned as often as necessary, to be corrected by July 1; NC/R3 – clean hood, filters of fryers, sides of fryers, hood/filters of grill, walls with spills/debris/grease and corners to remove debris/build-up, to be corrected by July 1.

Jack’s Donuts

Location: 1522 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

The Grill

Location: 6621 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – protect ice in bar ice bin from hose, corrected; C/R2 – pizza pans and knives on magnetic strip must be clean to sight and touch, corrected; NC – cooking utensils and equipment must not have tape on the handles, to be corrected by June 1; NC/R3 – lights in kitchen all needs to be working, to be corrected by July 1; NC – repair floor near dish machine, ceiling tiles, drawer pulls below grill, to be corrected by July 1; NC/R4 – clean inside of freezer to remove debris, storage rack, floors behind fryers and grill, to be corrected by June 1.

Hancock Regional Hospital/Hancock Wellness

Location: 8535 N. Clearview Drive, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – date-marking is for a total of seven days beginning with the prep day, corrected.

Burger King

Location: 2706 N. County Road 600W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R2 – doors/handles of walk-in and freezer must be cleaned every four hours when being touched with gloves, pans must be clean to sight and touch, protect lip contact/food surface of cups, lids and containers, to be corrected by May 10; NC – clean fry hot hold unit, fryer sides, line hot hold units to remove grease/build-up/debris, to be corrected by June 1; NC/R3 – do not store ice scoop on top of machine, to be corrected by May 10; NC/R6 – clean floors throughout kitchen, under equipment and corners, to be corrected by June 1.
