Dragons top Scecina

A three-run sixth-inning rally by the New Palestine baseball team broke a deadlock and delivered a 6-3 victory against Scecina on Senior Day.

Jaden Jaques (3-3) earned a complete-game victory, allowing five hits and no earned runs, the Dragons’ third consecutive game without allowing an earned run. He struck out seven and scattered five hits.

Noah Mack led the Dragons’ seven-hit attack, going 3-for-3 with two RBI singles. Colby Jenkins was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, walk and three runs. He drove in two. Jaden Jaques doubled, while Zach Neligh had an RBI single.

Royals shut out again

Eastern Hancock’s scoreless streak extended to five games on Monday, falling 7-0 to Northeastern.

Keegan Bowman led the offense with two hits, a single and a double. Ryan Burris and Landon Kintner had singles for the Royals.

Andy Locker pitched 5.2 innings, striking out two while allowing nine hits and four earned runs. Chris Craney struck out one and allowed no hits in one inning, and Landon Stanley threw 1/3 of an inning, allowing three hits and two runs.

Marauders get sweep

Mt. Vernon finished its regular season with a 12-5 record after a 5-0 win Monday against Anderson on Senior Night.

Seniors Kaleigh Helm and Louisa Batge won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, with Helm winning 6-1, 6-2 and Batge winning 6-0, 6-0. Senior Maeve Laughlin teamed with Maddie Swingle at No. 1 doubles, winning 6-0, 6-0.

The other Marauders wins were Lydia Ruegsegger, who rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and the No. 2 doubles duo of Lexi Shelton and Alexis Lane, who won 6-1, 6-0.

Dragons fall to Fishers

New Palestine fell in Monday’s Senior Day match 5-0 to visiting Fishers.

At No. 1 singles, Megan Long fell 6-1, 6-2 to the state’s No. 6 player. Josee King fell 6-2, 6-1 and Claire Cherry 6-1, 6-3. At doubles, Sheridan Schrowe/Ashley Truman dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision, while Caylie Almond/Eliza Adams fell 6-1, 6-1.
