Marauders edge Tigers

Mt. Vernon won a pitcher’s duel against Yorktown on Thursday, picking up a big HHC win, 2-1.

The teams combined for just nine hits, with Mt. Vernon’s Macy Griner leading all batters with two base hits. Chloee Yocum drove in both RBIs for the Marauders.

Karlee Franklin threw a complete game in the circle, striking out seven and allowing just five hits.

Royals get blanked

Eastern Hancock fell on the road Thursday, 4-0, to host Anderson.

The Royals were held to just one hit, a single from Megan Bever.

Elise Bittinger and Jessi Potts each threw three innings for Eastern Hancock, striking out six, walking one and allowing six combined hits.

Royals fall to No. 1

Eastern Hancock faced the top-ranked team in Class 2A on Thursday, falling 12-0 to visiting Hagerstown.

The Royals were held to two hits in the game, singles from Dylan Bates and Landon Kintner.

Four pitchers combined to give up 14 hits and the 12 runs in the defeat.

Royals fall in close match

Eastern Hancock dropped a close match Thursday against Waldron, 3-2.

The Royals got wins at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles, with Valentina Brooks picking up a 6-2, 6-0 win and the team of Madison Hagan and Corina Jennings winning 6-3, 6-2.

Marauders fall to HSE

Mt. Vernon fell on the road to host Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday, 5-0.

The Marauders were again shorthanded, missing two of their regular varsity players. The closest match came at No. 2 doubles, where Alexis Lane and Lexi Shelton teamed up in a 5-7, 3-6 defeat.
