PARKER CITY — The Eastern Hancock track and field teams flipped the script from 2018 on Friday night at Monroe Central.

The Royals boys won the Mid-Eastern Conference track meet, claiming the conference title for the first time by winning all three relays and four individual events.

The girls team finished second, with one individual event champion.

A year ago, the Royals girls won the MEC, claiming the conference title in the school’s first year in the MEC. The boys were runners-up.

This year, the Eastern Hancock boys won behind a clean sweep of the relays and the hurdles. Skyler Sexton won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. The Royals 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams all picked up conference championships.

Skyler Schrope repeated as MEC champion in the 800-meter run. Gabe Lawler won the shot put.

The lone champion on the girls side was also a repeat winner, as Aly Spaulding won the long jump for the second straight year.

The Royals girls will compete in Tuesday’s Pendleton Heights sectional. The Eastern Hancock boys will compete in Thursday’s Mt. Vernon sectional.
