KNIGHTSTOWN

Pamela Kaye South, 70, of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1948 in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Viola J. (Porter) Schaeffer.

A 1966 graduate of Knightstown High School, Pam retired as an Optometric Assistant after several years of working for Drs. Thomas Eade and Wade Horn.

She enjoyed home improvement projects as well as home decorating. She was continually remodeling and redecorating her home. She was a past member of the American Legion Post #152 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed family cookouts, Caribbean cruises with her family, and traveling in general. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 52 years, whom she married on October 15, 1966, Clyde South of Knightstown; three children, Amy Michelle (Brian) Cummings of Fortville, Brett Aaron (Julie) South of Indianapolis, and Jason Wade (Monica) South of Knightstown; grandchildren, Nicholas Cummings of Fortville, Connor Cummings of Evansville, and Brody Cummings of Fortville, Brady and Alyssa South, both of Indianapolis, Dylan South of Lebanon, Dakota Locker of Orlando, FL , and Madison Herman of Greenwood; a brother, Ronald L. (Iris) Schaeffer of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randy E. Schaeffer.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel, and funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the funeral home with Jay Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W 96th St. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
