The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Jan. 16

Speedway

Location: 815 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — cheese/chili sauce in dispenser not being held at proper temperature, corrected.

Jan. 17

Pizza Hut

Location: 1010 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — dish machine not dispensing sanitizing solution, corrected/service called; C — no certified food handler, to be corrected by Jan. 24; C — tongs and bowls used for wings must be cleaned and sanitized every four hours, corrected; C — mop sink is stopped up and overflows on floor, to be corrected by Jan. 23; NC — detergent and sanitizers of dish machine are not working, cannot dispose of waste water by dumping on ground, to be corrected by Jan. 23; NC — clean wall behind dish machine to remove build-up and mold-like substance, to be corrected by Feb. 15.

Location: 1274 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen

Location: 1981 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — must rinse equipment/utensils after washing, corrected; NC/R2 — must allow equipment/utensils to air dry before putting away, corrected.

Burger King

Location: 1620 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — protect lip contact surface area of cups at drive-thru, corrected.

Dragon Palace

Location: 413 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R4 — equipment non-food contact surfaces need to be clean to sight and touch. This includes but is not limited to shelving where dishes are stored, sides of wok table, sides of freezer, shelf above two-compartment sink, walk-in cooler shelving, etc.; C — food contact surfaces need to be clean to sight. Knives, potato peeler above food prep cooler in kitchen have food debris utensils that are clean need to be stored in clean containers so that they are not contaminated, civil penalties will be applied; NC/R2 — floors and walls in walk-in cooler have food debris/grime, floor under wok table also has debris/grime, floors need to be free of food debris/grime, under equipment, sinks, tables, etc.

Jim Dandy

Location: 80 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — chicken in hot-holding unit not being held hot enough, civil penalties will be applied, corrected/discarded; NC — faucet leaking at three-compartment sink, to be corrected by May 1; C — spray bottle containing chemical not labeled, corrected; NC — a food thermometer needs to be readily accessible, to be corrected by Jan. 18.
