The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Jan. 10

Speedway

Location: 1253 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — chili sauce is at 129 degrees, must be at 135 degrees or higher, corrected; C/R2 — expired sandwiches in reach-in cooler, corrected; NC — repair coving behind trash can in food prep area and in corner of beverage boxes, clean floor of corner with beverage boxes, clean interior of cabinet with standing liquid at beverage self-serve, clean floor under food prep cooler in kitchen, to be corrected by April 1.

Violations found: C/R4 — egg rolls on roller machine are at 129 degrees, must be 135 degrees or higher, corrected/discarded; C/R2 — must date-mark hot dogs and sausages when opening packages, corrected; NC/R2 — need to install hand sink by three-compartment sink, to be corrected by April 1; NC — hand soap needs to be available, corrected; fix hold in wall/coving in beverage box storage area, fix coving outside restroom and outside of walk-in cooler, clean gasket/door of customer service area coolers, clean under beverage boxes to remove syrup/debris, clean coving/floor under microwave cabinet, clean floors/coving to remove build-up, to be corrected by April 1.

Violations found: NC/R5 — must have sanitizing strips available at all times and use strips to confirm correct concentration, to be corrected by Jan. 15; C/R2 — sanitizing solution in spray bottle is labeled as glass cleaner, corrected.
