The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Aug. 16

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — must wash hands after handling dirty dishes and before handling clean when changing tasks, sanitizing solution dispenser is not working properly, corrected; C/R2 — nacho cheese must be held at 135 degrees or higher, corrected/discarded; C/R3 — equipment/utensils stored above breading station need to be clean to sight and touch, strainer is touching soap dispenser, corrected; clean interior of ice machine to remove mold-like substance, to be corrected by Aug. 20; NC — need equipment thermometers available/accessible, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — must use sanitizing test strips daily/each time prepared to confirm correct concentration, corrected; NC — clean exteriors of storage containers of breading, clean interior of chicken cooler, clean handles of all equipment to be corrected by Sept. 15; NC/R2 — repair floor tiles where they are damaged, repair wall/covering in corner by breading station, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R4 — clean wall behind grill, clean shelf of griddle, clean floor of dry storage, clean floor under cart for dirty dishes, remove grease/grime/food debris/build-up, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Aramark at Covance

Location: 2001 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — some debris on knife handles that were being stored as clean, also some debris in drawers, corrected.

Aug. 17

Round the Corner Grill

Location: 19 S. Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — no dates on deli meats or in house made salad dressing, to be corrected by Aug. 20; C — dish machine not dispensing sanitizer, employee observed touching buns with bare hands, need to have health reporting policy, corrected; NC — improper thawing of food observed, corrected; NC — utensils need to be stored so that hand and not eating surface is presented, employees need to use ice scoops wen filling glasses with ice, to be corrected by Nov. 1; NC/R — debris/grease/grime under fryers and food prep line, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Y-Not Pizza

Location: 45 E. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — faucet at three-compartment sink is leaking, to be corrected by Nov. 1.

Aug. 21

Wendy’s

Location: 1508 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — employee observed touching raw meat then touching handles of equipment to be touched by employees handling ready-to-eat food, chili in front area being held at 122 degrees, corrected.
