food safety inspections
The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.
July 11

Location: 1881 N. State St., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: C — sliced cheese and chicken on line above 41 degrees, mushrooms on hot holding below 135 degrees, corrected.
Riley Pool
Location: 300 N. Apple St., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: NC — food thermometer not working property, to be corrected by Aug. 1; C — wash hands before putting on food-handling gloves, corrected; NC/R — test strips for chlorine sanitizer need to be provided, to be corrected by Aug. 1.
July 17
Hampton Inn
Location: 2271 William Way, Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: C — cannot use common towel to wipe face and dry hands, corrected.
Burger King
Location: 2706 N. County Road 600 W., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: C — when using time as a public health control, timers must be set, corrected; NC/R — need thermometer in front line cooler, corrected; NC/R4 — need to clean walls to remove mold-like substance in walk-in cooler, clean floor of walk-in cooler to remove build-up, to be corrected by Sept. 1; NC — repair coving near cooler and entering dry storage area, to be corrected by Oct. 1.
