The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 26

Smokin’ Barrel Barbeque LLC

Location: 1417 E. Bradbury Ave., Indianapolis

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

May 29

The Mug

Location: 117 Apple St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — store and cover foods in prep cooler to prevent contamination, store knives in manner to protect between sanitizing, corrected; NC — faucet at three-compartment sink is leaking, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Speedway

Location: 6025 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — floor in kitchen area needs to be cleaned to remove build-up, debris and grime, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Village Pantry

Location: 5964 W. Pendleton Pike, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — go over illness reporting policy with employees, corrected; NC — clean trip of drink machine and ice machine baffle to remove mold/slime, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Bob Evans Farms

Location: 2256 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — review when to change gloves and when gloves become contaminated, corrected; NC/R — repair caulking at top of mop sink, to be corrected by Aug. 1; NC — clean interior of coolers, caskets, door handles to remove debris, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Speedway

Location: 2242 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — egg rolls on hot roller unit not being held at 135 degrees, chili sauce and nacho cheese not hot enough, corrected; NC — caulking at hand sink in kitchen area needs to be repaired or replaced, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

May 31

Subway

Location: 5945 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — demonstration of knowledge of how to prevent food borne illness, must wash hands after handling money, returning to food prep area after leaving for back-of-house before starting work, hand washing sinks must not be blocked, corrected; C/R — choppers for salads must be clean to sight and touch before being placed in storage, sanitizing solution too strong, corrected; NC — improper thawing method for chicken and beef, corrected.

Los Agaves Grill

Location: 5965 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — prevent contamination of onions from dripping mops, protect chips in warmer from carry-out packaging/orders, corrected; NC — must thaw fish according to packaging, to be corrected by May 31; NC — mops must be hung to dry away from food items, corrected.

Pizza King

Location: 6550 W. Broadway St., McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to wash hands after answering phone, taking orders, etc., lunch meat is beyond date mark, corrected; NC — need equipment thermometer in all refrigeration units, to be corrected by Aug. 1.
