The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

May 23

Speedway

Location: 5972 W. U.S. Highway 40, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – in-use tongs at roller food area need to be changed every four hours, corrected.

Kingen Gun Club

Location: 5122 W. County Road 500 N, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Steak N Shake

Location: 2121 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – whipped cream must be stored at 41 degrees or lower, corrected.

Subway – Wal-Mart

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – sanitizing solution not at correct concentration, corrected; C/R – utensils must be cleaned and sanitized every four hours, corrected.

New Palestine United Methodist Church/Youth League

Location: 2279 S. County Road 600 W, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – protect ice scoops by placing in a clean container, not on top of machine, corrected.

May 24

Wendy’s

Location: 1508 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – sanitizing solution not prepared to correct concentration, corrected; C/R – wash and sanitize cutting boards, cutters and area stored in at least every four hours, corrected; NC/R – protect ice scoops and store in a clean, protected manner at drive-thru and cashier station, must use sanitizing test strips to confirm correct concentration, corrected; NC/R – clean floors, drawer fronts, doors and handles of equipment and cooler floor to remove food debris/grease/build-up, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Brew 52

Location: 4346 S. County Road 500 W, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – must wash and sanitize in-use utensils, blender cups, etc. at least every four hours, corrected.

Mama Nita’s

Location: 5040 W. U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – need to date mark dressing made in establishment, spray bottle with sanitizer not labeled, corrected; NC/R – need sanitizing test strips provided and used, to be corrected by May 25; NC/R – hot water faucet at hand sink broken off, to be corrected by June 15.

Y-Not Pizza

Location: 45 E. Main St., New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – must date mark ready-to-eat lunch meat and chicken wings, corrected; NC – faucet and hand-washing sink leaking, gap at back/exterior door, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Treat America Food Service

Location: 400 W. New Road, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – sanitizer not dispensing at correct concentration, corrected; C/R – utensils must be clean to sight and touch before placing in drawer, corrected; NC – water temperature of dish machine is at 142, service called; NC – paper towel dispenser by dish machine not dispensing, to be corrected by June 1; NC/R – light in walk-in cooler burned out, corrected; NC/R – clean shelving of spices, flour, etc., clean under equipment, doors, handles and floors, to be corrected by Aug. 1.
