Restaurant Inspections – June 13

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

April 25

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — equipment/utensils stored above breading station need to be clean to sight and touch, corrected; C — hamburgers stores in juice on grill not a proper holding temperature, corrected; NC/R — continue to clean equipment and floors under equipment where grease/grime has accumulated, to be corrected by July 1; NC — repair floor tiles where they are damaged, to be corrected by July 1.

The Grill 2

Location: 6621 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — sour cream is at 51 degrees, corrected; C — must date-mark tuna salad made in-house and held longer than 24 hours, corrected; NC — must store ice scoop in clean, protected manner, sanitizing test strips must be used daily to confirm correct concentration, corrected; NC/R — thermometer is needed in walk-in cooler, repair leak at hand sink, to be corrected by July 1.

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Tim’s Bakery

Location: P.O. Box 1, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair plumbing and caulking at three-compartment sink, water running down wall is degrading wall and coving, clean racks storing equipment/dough cutters/trays, clean outside of containers and lids for flour, etc., tile back splash around three-compartment sink needs to be cleaned and regrouted, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Huck’s Convenience Food & Fuel

Location: 322 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — expired in-house made lunch meat sandwich, corrected/discarded; NC — clean floors in and by walk-in cooler below rack where deli meat is stored for sandwiches, to be corrected by July 1.

April 26

Sunrise Bakery

Location: 101 W. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair flooring in kitchen.

Griggsby’s Station

Location: 101 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — protect food that is ready-to-eat from contact with equipment, corrected; NC — glasses must be air-dried before stacking for storage, protect exterior door area with door screen when leaving door open, corrected.
